Stuff we need!

2022 Summer Interns begin the transformation of the shipping container into cold storage. Donations of building materials (or gift cards) will help us finish our cold storage project and build a new tool storage shed.

There are many ways you can contribute to E.A.T. South! Volunteers keep the farm going, donations pay for our programs. If you would rather donate something specific or find yourself with too many rakes, here’s a list of things that your farmers would put to very good use:
Gift cards to Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware, Lowes, Pet Supermarket (or other pet stores) or Amazon. Do you have a gift card stash in a drawer somewhere? We’ll turn your unused gift cards into garden beds, tool sheds, and tools that provide food for the community.

Garden Tools - Tools break; sometimes they get lost. We always need good garden tools. The main tools we use are digging forks, leaf rakes and metal rakes, flat shovels/scoops, pitch forks, shovels, trowels and hand weeders, and a variety of hoes. Are you downsizing or have extra tools? Donations of good used tools are always welcome, and if we can’t use them, we’ll give them to a garden who can.

Building materials - We have two building projects right now - a tool shed for volunteers and a walk-in cooler to store produce. The tool shed will give volunteers better, safer access to garden tools along with a place to store things displaced by the walk in cooler. We need wood (plywood, 2x4s, 4x4s, 6x6s), metal roofing, hinges, hardware, paint, etc. We also need an electrician and welder.

A Pizza Oven - Sometimes when we ask kids to tell us their favorite vegetable, they say, “Pizza!” For years, we’ve wanted a pizza oven (a wood fired kit or large Ooni), but it has always felt a little too much like a luxury with more pressing, day-to-day farm expenses. A pizza oven would be a great way to involve kids on the farm - and we’d all benefit from delicious pizza nights! Will you help us make this dream a reality?

Students in the after school program dig up potatoes in the spring 2022.

Power Tools - Farmer Amanda loves to build, and she would put a jigsaw and miter saw to work creating that tool shed along with worm bins, rabbit hutches, garden beds, and maybe even a goat shed! Extra hammers, pliers, screw drivers, hand saws, circular saws and other tools are also welcome.

Fencing, fence posts and a fence stretcher - Rolls of metal fencing, t-posts, metal fence panels, 4x4 posts, T-posts, and a fence stretcher - oh, how we need a fence stretcher! - will all be put to use creating trellises and adding more space for animals.

Leaves! - Leaves are starting to fall, and if you need to rake yours, we’ll turn them into compost and mulch.

An Electric Truck - Honestly, any truck that runs would be welcome, but if you know a Chevy or Ford dealer who wants to promote the power of an electric vehicle, we’d be happy to demonstrate their utility.

If you want to donate any of these items, get in touch with Farmer Caylor. Thank you!
