We love seeds, teaching about seeds, reading seed stories, planting seeds, and the best is pouring over seed catalogs and ordering seeds in January. Here are some of our favorite sources for seeds.

High Mowing Seeds only sells organic seeds, and orders over $10 have free shipping.

Johnny’s Selected Seeds is a worker owned coop that sells seeds to market farmers and gardeners. They also sell high quality garden tools.

Southern Exposure Seed Exchange specializes in crops that grow well in the hot, humid south. You’ll find heirloom vegetables like Green Glaze Collards and Fish Peppers as well as newer heat-adapted varieties.

Kitazawa Seeds is America’s oldest seed company and specializes in Asian vegetables. Our summer climate is perfect for their squashes and winter is an excellent time to grow many of the delicious greens in their catalog.

Wild Garden Seeds sells all organically grown seeds with lots of interesting varieties of herbs, greens, and salad mixes.

Truelove Seeds is a new company we’re trying out this year. They are a network of small farms growing seeds connected to stories of histories of the growers. This year, we trying an edible jute called Molokhia and a South American edible marigold called Huacatay.
